Tuncer Çakmaklı Architecture
Çakmaklı graduated from Karlsruhe Technical University, School of Architecture in 1986 with a master's degree in architecture and engineering. Çakmaklı participated in international competitions and prepared urban design projects for municipalities. Between 1986 and ‘91, he taught architecture courses in the Aachen Technical University, School of Architecture. In 1992, Çakmaklı relocated his office TCA - Tuncer Cakmaklı Architects to İstanbul. During his career, Çakmaklı carried out numerous design and construction projects in numerous countries, especially in Germany and Turkey. In 2001, he received the Ligna Plus World Timber Award (in Germany, in 2001) for his restoration of the Federal Republic of Germany’s Tarabya Summer Residence. In 2009, he was awarded with the Europe Constructional Steel Design Award for his design of the Bursa Wholesale Greengrocers and Fishmongers Market. In parallel with his professional architectural work, between 1992 and 2009, Çakmaklı taught at the Mimar Sinan University as a lecturer in studio design courses. Also, in 2013, he taught urban design and architecture in Cornell University, Architecture Art Planning (AAP) in New York.
