Nejat Yavaşoğulları Architecture Firm
Born in İstanbul, upon studying at the Haydarpaşa Lisesi, Yavaşoğulları graduated from State Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture, with a master's degree in architecture, in 1974. While he was still a student, Yavaşoğulları started working for offices such as EPA Architecture and Cengiz Bektaş Architecture. Later in 1975, he worked with Prof. Kenan Erim in the ancient city of Aphrodisias in Aydın. In 1977, he worked with the Austrian architect F. Hueber on the restoration of Celsus Library in the ancient city of Ephesus. In 1975, he began his private practice with the project and construction of the İstinye Recaizade Ekrem Mansion. Besides his professional practice, he taught as an instructor for design courses at Yeditepe University and Işık University. For the last two years, also being one of the co-founders, he serves as the Chairman of the Foundation For Architecture. Yavaşoğulları still continues his private practice within the Nejat Yavaşoğulları Architecture. He is also known for his ongoing career in music, as one of the founding members of the band Bulutsuzluk Özlemi.
