Mehmet Alper received his bachelor's degree in architecture from İ.D.M.M.A. (Yıldız Technical University) in 1976, and his master's degree in 1979. Between 1977 and ‘80, Alper served in the Ministry of Tourism as the Group Chairman of the Tourism Investments. Between 1980 and ‘89, he taught as a faculty member at the Yıldız Technical University, School of Architecture, in the Restoration Department. He holds a PhD thesis titled “Spatial Structure of the City of Urfa and Its Place in Turkish Islamic Architecture”, which he completed under the management of Prof. Dr. Metin Sözen. Today Alper is the owner and the Executive Director of Tures LLC. He also currently serves as the head of the Design and Construction Department at the Foundation for the Preservation and Promotion of the Environment and Cultural Heritage (ÇEKÜL).
