Aydan Volkan was born in 1969, in İstanbul. She graduated as an architect in 1992 from the Yıldız Technical University, School of Architecture. In the following years, she worked for Ertem Ertunga Architecture until 1995. Between 1995 and ‘96 she attended a language program at King’s College London. In 1996, Volkan co-founded Kreatif Architecture and has been continuing her work there ever since. Volkan had been a member of the 6th term Executive Board of the İstanbul Association of Architects in Private Practice (İstanbulSMD). She taught Arch 301-302 courses at Yıldız Technical University’s School of Architecture, Department of Architecture as a guest lecturer between 2000-02 and Arch 201-202 courses at Kadir Has University’s School of Fine Arts, Department of Architecture in the 2019-20 semester. Besides her professional work, she participates in conferences and panels on architecture and urbanization. She also takes roles as a jury member in various competition and award programs.
