Oğuz Öztuzcu


1942 - 2020

Born in Samsun, Öztuzcu completed his elementary education in Samsun. He then continued with middle school and high school education at Robert College between 1953 and 1961. In 1966, he graduated from the Middle East Technical University, School of Architecture. Later, he completed his graduate studies at University Liverpool, School of Architecture between 1966 and ‘67. Between 1970 and 1978, Öztuzcu founded and managed his own office. Simultaneously he grew an interest towards photography and started taking photographs. In 1986, he started pursuing his private practice. He mostly carried out tourism oriented projects in Southern Turkey (in Marmaris, Bodrum and Antalya). Between 1995-97 he managed the design and construction of Bodrum Hebil Bay Stone Houses. Between 1998-01, he continued with project designs and constructions in Kayaköy, Bodrum. In 1994, he founded Friends of Çatalhöyük Foundation. He served as an Executive Board Member for İstanbulSMD between 2007-09, plus, as the Vice Chairman between 2010-11, and as the Chairman in 2012.
