Fahrettin Ayanlar


(1944 - 2015)

Born in Ankara, in 1944, Ayanlar, between 1997 and 2010, worked as the project and construction coordinator for Vehbi Koç Foundation (VKV) and carried out projects for the establishments affiliated with the foundation. Ayanlar graduated from the Middle East Technical University, School of Architecture with a master's degree in 1967. For a while he worked with Toğrul Devres and Doruk Pamir. In 1973, he traveled to Venezuela, to work as a designer and a manager for the firm Arquitectura Beckhoff in the capital Caracas. In 1981, Ayanlar founded his own office: Ayanlar & Siebert. In 1987, upon returning to İstanbul, he started managing architectural design and construction projects for establishments affiliated with Koç Group. In 1997, as the project and construction coordinator for VKV, Ayanlar completed numerous projects for the foundation, such as: Koç Private High School, Koç University Rumelifeneri Campus, American Hospital and ANAMED (Koç University Research Center for Anatolian Civilizations). After leaving his position in VKV, Ayanlar founded Ayanlar Architecture. He also worked as a consultant to the architecture firm L35 AS/OS. In 2008, he was awarded with the Chamber of Architects 11th National Architecture Awards in Building Category, for his design of the ANAMED. Ayanlar, a former member of İstanbulSMD, passed away on January 13th, 2015.
