Maruf Önal

 Born in 1918, in İstanbul, Önal graduated from State Academy of Fine Arts (İDMMA), School of Architecture with a master's degree in architecture in 1943. Between 1943 and ‘46, Önal worked as an assistant at his alma mater. In 1958, he started teaching as a faculty member at Yıldız Technical University (YTU). There, between 1960-1963 and 1966-1969, he served as the head of the Department of Architecture. Between 1976-1979 and 1982-1985, he worked as the Dean of School of Architecture at İDMMA and YTÜ respectively. An Honorary Member of İstanbulSMD, Önal passed away on October 18th, 2010.
